Hanover 2005
The 24th annual Gathering
gets wet in New Hampshire
It was a soggy weekend in Hanover, the wettest Gathering on record, with severe flooding in other parts of New Hampshire by weekend's end that left several people dead. But luckily, nothing more serious than flooded tents and collapsed tarps were seen at the Gathering. Rain started falling during the Friday evening presentation and kept coming back all weekend long. Some folks who pitched their tents in low bowls discovered their tents surrounded by moats of water. The campfire was forced under cover every night, but luckily there was a pavilion available to keep participants dry. The skyrocketing gas prices kept attendance down this year. Roughly 400 people were on hand during the weekend, at least 100 fewer than we normally have for Gatherings in Hanover. We hope to post a compilation of the critiques soon, but feel free to add any memories you want to share by e-mailing them to ALDHA at gathering@aldha.org. Thanks!
