12,000 miles
of trail-tested wisdom

Cindy Ross and Todd Gladfelter

With A Woman’s Journey in the early ’80s, Cindy Ross established herself as a new voice among writers on the Appalachian Trail. She and her husband Todd have since written other books about other experiences on America’s trails, including trips where they used llamas to help carry their gear.

Cindy has served as ALDHA coordinator and continues to contribute articles on various aspects of outdoor adventures to various magazines. She and Todd maintain an active role in the trail scene from their home base, near Hawk Mountain in Pennsylvania. Their books include:

Journey on the Crest
Cindy’s account of her hike along the Pacific Crest Trail through California, Oregon and Washington.

A Hiker’s Companion
“12,000 miles of trail-tested wisdom” is the subtitle; hundreds of useful ideas.

Kids for the Wild
Backcountry-tested advice on taking your kids hiking, canoeing, llama-trekking, and more.

A Woman’s Journey
Cindy’s 1979-80 thru-hike of the A.T., during which she met Todd.
