A.T. Museum Report: Larry Luxenberg
In August they incorporated and have filed for non-profit status
Museum may be housed in train station at Harpers Ferry
Temporary exhibits may be put together until permanent is established
Donations are slowly but steadily coming in
John Shaffer made a substantial donation in memory of Earl Shaffer

Gathering Coordinator Update: Jim Owens
Stacy Mikkalsen needs complete list of how many are participating with work trip Monday, so the right number of meals are available
Please fill out the critique sheets so we can better evaluate program

Only 8 to 9 miles of the A.T. are unprotected
$6 to 8 million will be requested from Congress to aid in purchasing remaining unprotected lands
Donated have increased over the last year
Ultimate Store sales have increased this year
Corporate funding is slowly improving
Web site is being improved
Seasonal workers needed as caretakers, ridge runners and other positions
2003 Bi-Annual Board Meeting will be held July 25-August 1at Waterville Valley Resort Conference Center in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire
16-17% completion rate for thru-hikers

Coordinator Report: Stacy Mikkalsen
It has been a busy & successful year
Burt Gilbert was recognized for all his years of service on the Trail
30 miles of Cumberland Trail are being developed and there is a need for 100 volunteers every day
More work trips will be planned with DOC in the future
A letter of appreciation was sent to Palmerton Girl Scout Troop for putting together goodie bag for hikers
Certificates were sent to the individual girl scouts
Spring Steering Committee will be held at Blackburn Trail Center
Dates will be decided at Steering Committee Meeting later today
Garvey Food Pavilion at Blackburn Trail Center will built with local boy scouts and other volunteers
ALDHA authorized $1300.00 to be spent on project with actual cost being $1085.00
Sherry Garvey & ALDHA will design a suitable plaque

Discussion on changing ALDHA status to 501C3 from current status
Rich Evans will forward information to Board

ALDHA will begin to keep track of volunteer hours spent on Companion

5 took part in cliff jump this morning

Work trip will be leaving Folk Life Center at 0730 hours

Spur & Ready PCT slide show will be held I ADM 210 at 1530 hours

Rusty’s will be open to hikers in 2003 and Bill O’Brien was presented a Rusty’s tee shirt

Steve Longley presented a certificate of appreciation for his years of service as Kennebec River Ferryman

Back-up date will be March 22

Stacy Mikkalsen won’t be available W-TH-F-SA due to work schedule

Discussion on ALDHA web site
Bill O’Brien recommended that all items be forwarded to him
Amy Friends Stone will assist with web site

Treasurer will handle ALDHA merchandise

Checking account will be transferred to FL
All other accounts will be transferred shortly

Discussion whether we should allow professional vendor at Hiker Fair
Matter tabled until Spring Steering Committee Meeting

ALDHA will be represented at ATC Biennial Conference

All hostels should be included in mailing of future newsletters

Volunteers are needed at booth for Trail Days & Trail Fest

We will need a letter from DOC stating costs for Gathering

Endangered Services program is still developing

Only 5 of the 6 ordered porta-potties were delivered

Plenty of TP is on hand this year

ALDHA signage is excellently posted to Folk Life Center
