Mary Wood

.... Mary (Bradley) Wood died in Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton on Dec. 6, 2007, surrounded by her family. She was 87.

.... Born in Norristown, she was the daughter of the late Francis J. and Kathryn (Kelly) Bradley and she was the wife of the late John J. "Chuck" Wood, who died in 1992.

.... She lived in Conshohocken until her teens and graduated from St. Matthew's High School in 1938. She was employed by the Bell Telephone Company for several years prior to her marriage in 1946.

.... She was a sports and camping enthusiast, playing softball, tennis and basketball in her youth, and she was a fan of all the local pro teams and enjoyed watching them on television. Her husband and she enjoyed many camping vacations with their eight sons traveling throughout the United States.

.... Mrs. Wood was a member of St. Francis of Assisi parish in Norristown. She is survived by her eight sons; John and Charles, both at home, Francis of Tennessee, Robert of East Norriton, Michael of Bridgeport, Timothy of Norristown, Christopher of Pottstown, and Patrick also at home; a sister, Dolores B. Faust; nine grandchildren; and her four great-grandchildren.

.... Besides her late husband and parents, her brothers Francis J. Bradley and Charles D. Bradley, and her sisters Rita B. McElroy and Catherine B. Murray also preceded her in death.

.... Relatives and friends participated in Mary's life celebration service at the Boyd-Horrox Funeral Home of East Norriton, 200 West Germantown Pike on Dec. 11, followed by her funeral Mass celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, West Marshall and Hamilton Streets, Norristown.

.... Burial was in St. Patrick's Cemetery.

.... The family has requested a donation in her honor be made to the Father Kevin C. Trautner Organ Fund, c/o St. Francis of Assisi Church, 600 Hamilton Street, Norristown, PA 19401.
