‘Walking the Appalachian Trail’
By Larry Luxenberg
Larry Luxenberg, a member of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association, interviewed hundreds of folks a few years ago and wove their stories into a new book, Walking the Appalachian Trail. It’s been described as a modern-day version of the famed 2-volume Rodale Press collection of A.T. stories, only a heck of a lot easier to carry! The following profiles are from the book, reprinted with the author’s permission.
Warren Doyle
The founder of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association.
Wanda Kurdziel
Arguably the most experienced woman hiker on the Appalachian Trail today.
Walkin’ Jim Stoltz
The ultimate long-distance hiker. (He can sing, too.)
