Trail Grapevine
Welcome to ALDHA’s Cyber Lean-to,
our new shelter on the Internet Trail
Facebook
Robert Sylvester has started up an ALDHA page on the popular social-networking site Facebook. You just have to join Facebook (it's free) to take part. Go to http://www.facebook.com and follow the instructions to sign up if you're not already a Facebook member.
Bulletin Board
We've created a Bulletin Board as a place to post notices and other blurbs about upcoming events or other developments in ALDHA. Feel free to email us with any notes you'd like to post.
Annual Membership Directory
The annual Membership Directory is put together in the late fall, after the Gathering, and mailed to each and every member after the first of the year. The 2011 edition was sent to the printers in mid-January and mailed the 1st week of February. They are shipped via nonprofit bulk rate mail, so actual time of delivery will vary. Overseas and Canadian addresses will take a little while longer.
“Long Distance
Hiker” excerpts
Check out a few selected stories from the current issue of ALDHA’s newsletter.
ALDHA Group Photos
Here's a page with links to all the group photos we have taken at Gatherings since the feature was revived by Bill O'Brien at the 1998 Gathering. Some years are missing.
The ALDHA List
It’s a nonstop, 24/7 electronic gabfest around the virtual campfire ... A new online list created by an ALDHA member for fellow ALDHA members and other folks in the hiking community.
The A.T. List
Would you like to join a news group that focuses on the Appalachian Trail? Do you live, breathe, eat and sleep nothing but the trail? This list is for you.
Headlines from the world of hiking
Condensed stories based on reports filed by various news services around the country.
Appalachian Trail Monopoly
Like to play games? Based on an idea from Frank Krajcovic at the 2002 Gathering, we had fun conjuring up what a Monopoly board game would be like if it followed the Appalachian Trail. The possibilities are, of course, endless. Here is just one way to look at it. If you have access to a large printer, blow up the board to about 20 inches square and it will fit over a regulation game board. (Note: this file is a PDF document. You need Acrobat Reader, which is free, to view it.)
