The Finger Lakes Trail
559 miles

Location
The Finger Lakes Trail runs from the junction with the Long Path at the base of Slide Mt in the Catskills to the New York/Pennsylvania border in western NY where the Allegheny National forest meets the Allegheny State Park.

Description
The Finger Lakes Trail joins the Catskills with the Alleghenies, running through the southern tier of New York. The pathway also connects the Long Path with the North Country Trail, and the Conservation Trail, a major branch trail, connects with Canada's Bruce Trail. Highlights of the trail include Letchworth State Park (the "Grand Canyon" of New York), Watkins Glen, and the Connecticut Hill area. The Finger Lakes Trail is marked by 2"x6" white blazes, except in the Catskills where it is marked by DEC blazes. The trail is maintained by various volunteer groups and the US Forest Service.

When to Go
Fall large game hunting season should be avoided as the trail may be closed where it crosses private property. Additionally the trail is closed the first Monday of February each year.

Permits and Restrictions

Resupply
