Virginia’s highest peaks Bill and Laurie Foot “The Happy Feet” of ’87

Bill and Laurie Foot of Lynchburg, Va., plan to someday compile the information for a new book on the highest peaks of Virginia. You won’t meet a more active trail couple anywhere else. Bill and Laurie have served as longtime members of the Natural Bridge A.T. Club and Bill served a term as a member of the Appalachian Trail Conference board of managers. In early October ’96, Bill was elected president of the NBATC. They are both members of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association. Laurie and Bill thru-hiked the A.T. as northbounders in ’87 with the trail names “The Happy Feet.” They are in the process of tackling another hike, this time on the American Discovery Trail.
