2000 New England Autumn
ALDHA Work Trip

By Scott Beavers

Woodstock, Vt., October 2000

Mark your calenders for November 11th!!!!

It’s Work trip time and I would love to have you join us for another one of those wonderful ALDHA trips. We will be working with the Dartmouth Outing Club once again in the western part of New Hampshire or perhaps Vermont and Bert Gilbert has once again offered up his home and agreed to play host to us.

If you want to show up Friday night, or stay Saturday night -- as you know you will be quite welcome.

Of course it’s the Big Feed that we will all want to attend at his home in Enfield Center, and that will take place on Saturday night

If you would like to volunteer, contact either Scott Beavers or Al Sochard.

Meeting time and place:

Meet at the A.T. crossing of NH Route 25A. Parking on both sides of road. Meet at 8:45 a.m. Folks should bring drinking water and a trail lunch. We will work until about 4 p.m. Then we will head over to Bert's for the big meal in Enfield Center.

From the meeting place we will carpool together up a nearby logging road to Brackett Brook. We will walk in about 0.5 mile on an older logging road to hit the A.T. at the crossing of Brackett Brook. This is our work site.

Work description:

On both the A.T. North and South sides of the brook we will be installing rock steps and rock waterbars. People can bring tools if they have them. Bert is working on rounding up our tool supplies for the trip. Rock bars, pick mattocks, shovels, clippers, etc.. There is plenty of good work to keep all of us ALDHA folks occupied for the day.

This is an AWESOME project. We may even get dirty.
