Trail enthusiast Steve Duyser
has died at age of 47

HARWINTON -- Steven J. Duyser, 47, of Lead Mine Brook Road, died June 21, 2007, at his home. He was the son of Cornelius A. Duyser Jr. of Harwinton and the late Virginia (Jones) Duyser.
Steven worked for several years in Sanford, N.C., as a restitution counselor for Lee County. An avid hiker, he had traveled most of the Appalachian Trail and was a volunteer for the Appalachian Trail Club, serving as a guide and helping to map and maintain the trail. His trail name was "Never Through."
In addition to his father, he is survived by a sister, Phyllis Jones of Burlington, and a nephew, Ryan.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 25, at Harwinton Congregational Church. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the Nutting-Rowe Funeral Home, 283 Torrington Road, Litchfield, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m.
