Description
The Colorado Trail follows a high route through the Colorado Rockies. After traversing westward from Denver to Breckenridge the trail begins to range southward before again turning west to Durango. There are many highlights, among them the 10 Mile Range between Breckenridge and
Copper, the Collegiate Peaks, and the San Juans. The route is generally blazed with white plastic triangles bearing the CT logo. Above treeline posts, carsonite stakes, and cairns will be found. Sections of the trail are also blazed for cross-country skiing.
When to Go
In June there will still be snow to traverse in the high country. September will bring early snow storms. There are several twenty mile sections where water may be a problem in late summer.
Reservations
No permits required.
Resupply
Supplies are generally available at 75-100 mile intervals, but may require long and difficult hitches off of the trail.
