The A.T. List
One of the great things about hiking all day on the trail is talking at night in the shelter with trail friends, new and newly met, about experiences no one else can appreciate unless they’ve been there, done that, as well. Now it doesn’t have to stop when you leave the trail.
There’s a way to keep it going, through your computer and e-mail. It’s by joining a mailing list -- in this case “The A.T. List.” It doesn’t cost anything, except your input, and it can get fairly lively at times. It began May 28, 1995, by Ryan Brooks.
Several ALDHA members are already part of the conversation, including Jim Owen (“Bald Eagle” of ’92) and Mike Henderson (“Ke Kaahawe” of ’92). Find out who else is out there.
The list was recently reorganized, but as of November 1996, this should work. (Thanks to Beau Bushor for the updated info).
Hello All!
The original/replacement AT-L list is currently up and running.
I’ve tested it on a limited basis locally, and all seems well.
So, if you’d like, go ahead and subscribe and try it out. I would
encourage you to continue to use Milt’s list here for “production”
traffic. I really do appreciate everyone’s offers of help, testing and good wishes!
And now, for the details:
The replacement list is run by Majordomo, and previous
list participants will not be resubscribed. (Please note that the “l” in the addresses below is a lowercase L, as in List, not the numeral “one”.)
To subscribe to the normal list, send e-mail to:
with a message containing (in the body) “SUBSCRIBE”.
To subscribe to the digested list, send e-mail to:
with a message containing (in the body) “SUBSCRIBE”.
You can post to either list, and it will be distributed to all list members at either:
at-l@backcountry.net
or
at-l-digest@backcountry.net
The PCT-L list is to follow shortly if this goes well :-)
Note: Digest subscribees may get some testing garbage in the
beginning of their first digest from yours truly!
Thanks Again!
Ryan Brooks
