Long Distance Hiking Association
Our sister organization, ALDHA West, has been holding West Coast Gatherings for several years now. It’s composed of long-distance hikers who live and hike on the other side of the continent. Some ALDHA West members are also members of the Appalachian Long Distance Hikers Association (and vice versa of course!), and some have even been able to attend both Gatherings, East and West, on successive weekends in the fall. But the two organizations are separate and distinct entitities, independent from each other, with their own respective boards of directors, bylaws, dues, etc. You can contact ALDHA-West via snail-mail, at:

ALDHA-West has its own newsletter, e-mail address and Web site, maintained by Steve Queen. We’ve also posted their link in the Side Trails section as well. Their Web site includes information about their annual fall Gathering, usually held the weekend before our Gathering in the East, as well as journal entries, resources, tips & technical know-how, a cookbook, and excerpts from their newsletter, The Distance Hiker’s Gazette.
